It is my pleasure to announce that my debut children’s picture book, Such a noisy bird!, has been released, available to buy here.

On the plains of Africa, our leading lady – the oxpecker – just loves chatting. She spends her days following every animal she can, talking relentlessly and generally annoying everyone! Her noisy gibbering serves as a useful distraction for an opportunistic leopard to attack the herd… can the oxpecker save the day?

I am an English & Linguistics graduate and artist; passionate about helping people learn to read. This story was born while I was on safari at the Kruger National Park, South Africa. It is one of the most incredible places to see wild animals in their natural habitat. From ear-flapping elephants and snoozing rhinos to slinking leopards and hunting lionesses, there was one very relentless and intrusive bird that kept popping up during my trip, and I simply had to write about her. The story includes the names and pictures of 13 wild African animals; introduces many synonyms for “talking”; and shows that good things happen when you embrace who you are.

Recommended for children aged 3-6 years old. Click here to find out more.
